ICT 2018 took place in Vienna on 4-6 December 2018. This research and innovation event focused on the European Union’s priorities in the digital transformation of society and industry. It presented an opportunity for the people involved in this transformation to share their experience and vision of Europe in the digital age.
Three project team members (prof. Mariana Mocanu,PhD, lecture Silvia Anton, PhD and eng. Silvia Bădulescu) and two doctoral students that are involved in researches related to smart data and services for water management (Alexandru Predescu and Ciprian Nuţescu), all from UPB, participated at the event.
The conference programme of the 2018 edition featured 6 plenary sessions on topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Next Generation Internet, Digital Skills and High-Performance Computing. Speakers from policy circles, academia, civil society and industry highlighted their perspectives and priorities, and discussed how each can contribute to the successful digital transformation of Europe.

On behalf of the management team of the Project “Excellence in Smart Data and Services for Supporting Water Management – DATA4WATER“, it is our pleasure to invite you to attend the final event, that will take place at the University Politehnica of Bucharest, on November 23, 2018, 9:00 AM. The event is hosted by the Faculty for Automatic Control and Computers, in the Council Hall of the Research Centre PRECIS (Room PR105).
As part of the Data4Water EU Twining project, we are organizing a series of training sessions. This session is organised in Bucharest by University of Milano-Bicocca and University Politehnica of Bucharest.
This training session entitled “Using reinforcement learning to solve water management problems” is targeted at PhD/MsC/undergrad students and early career researchers and takes place from the 21st of November to the 22nd of November 2018.
The 3rd Info Day and networking event, 5th October 2018, Milan, had the main role to put together researchers and practitioners in the field of water management and discussing different on-going subject like: data and computational model used in water resource management, research and innovation for sustainable energy, Service Level Agreement Characteristics of water resources monitoring, digital-services for Water-Energy Nexus, Water Distribution Network calibration with few field measures, the experience of Società Acquedotti Tirreni, a public institution in Italy, the experience of Metropolitana Milanese in Milan (Integrated Water Cycle management), the analysis of Milan Metropolitan area groundwater, presentation of some H2020 ongoing projects: GeneGIS and the SMART Water Management, quality for drinking water ecosystem and monitoring strategies in a prevention perspective.

World Water Week is one of the highlights of the year (http://www.siwi.org/publications/world-water-week-programme-2018/ ).
Prof. Mariana Mocanu attended the event that included plenary presentations, sessions, networking sessions and field visits. Prof. Mocanu participated at events that focused mainly on use of ICT in water systems, however all events tackled both combined technical and socio-economic aspects. She attended:
Getting contact with specialists, discussing about similar points of interest, exchanging experiences was a central preoccupation during the entire week.
The training session 5 is organised in Bucharest by Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS (FOKUS), Germany and University Politehnica of Bucharest.
This training session has the following topics: Emerging research trends in ICT-supported water resource management and the water nexus and takes place from the 18th of June to the 20th of June 2018.
We are pleased to announce that we will be organizing the third Summer School at the University Politehnica of Bucharest.
The summer school topic is Emerging research trends in ICT-supported water resource management and the water nexus and takes place from 18th June to the 13th July 2018.
